Our Custom Marine Products CMP CMP26120SR 120 Watt Monocrystalline Walkable PERC Cell from Nomadic Supply Company Solar Panel uses premium PERC solar cells and will perform extremely well in both full and partial sun.
The Custom Marine Products CMP CMP26120SR 120 Watt Monocrystalline Walkable PERC Cell Solar Panel is built to withstand the harsh marine environment and is ideal for mounting on a rigid boat surface or a camper van roof.
The CMP CMP26120SR 120 Watt Monocrystalline Walkable PERC Cell Solar Panel is specifically designed to be walked on!
With a strong aluminum backing and extra thick ETFE laminate non-skid surface, these exclusive solar panels can be walked on without fear of damaging the solar cells and can conform to a slightly curved surface (~5 degrees). These panels are ideal for mounting on a slightly curved rigid boat, camper van van roof, roof rack, boat dock, or on our top-of-pole mounting system.
The CMP CMP26120SR 120 Watt Monocrystalline Walkable PERC Cell Solar Panel is available with a white or black backing.
PERC (Passivated Emitter and Rear Contact) cells are about 5% less efficient than Sunpower cells and cost about 25% less. These modified conventional cells produce 6 to 12 percent more energy than conventional monocrystalline solar cells. Premium PERC solar cells have an extra layer within the back side of the cell. This allows some of the sun’s rays to reflect back into the solar cell, increasing the amount of energy produced resulting in a conversion efficiency of up to 22.5%. This enables us to provide the same high quality at a lower price per watt.

Our SunPower Maxeon Series solar panels are made with SunPower Maxeon solar cells which have the highest energy yield (power output) of any solar cell commercially available in the world. SunPower Maxeon cell technology uses a back contact design which maximizes the sunlight energy available to each solar cell and enables a sunlight to electric conversion efficiency of up to 24%. Our SunPower Maxeon walkable solar panels come in 5 sizes ranging from 60 Watts up to 175 watts.
We also offer a more affordable walkable panel that uses PERC solar cells. Our PERC walkable solar panels come in 6 sizes ranging from 60 Watts up to 330 watts.
Mounting Semi-rigid Walk-On Marine Solar Panels
Our CMP Semi-Rigid Walkable Solar Panel Mounting Kit includes two ‘J’ anodized aluminum extrusions. The CMP Semi-Rigid Walkable Solar Panel Mounting Kit is available in Anodized Black aluminum, or raw aluminum.
You will need to specify our solar panel model number when ordering so that the proper length extrusions are included with your order.
There are at least three ways to mount the semi-rigid solar panels on a rigid surface.
- They can be screwed down directly to the deck surface at each corner. We recommend a stainless screw with an oversized washer.
- They can be taped down directly to the deck with double sided Very High Bond (VHB) tape. Because the back side of the panel has a pebbled surface like the front side for air circulation, the tape must have a foam core of at least 1/8 inch to secure the panel.
- The third method is our preferred method: Our CMP Semi-Rigid Walkable Solar Panel Mounting Kit. Aluminum extrusions are mounted on each side of the long sides of the panel and adhered to the deck surface with the tape. If the deck surface is not conducive to adhering the tape, the ‘J’ extrusions can be screwed to the deck and the panel slid into position. This mounting method allows for the panel to be slid out of the extrusion for removal and cleaning of the deck surface.
Custom Marine Products
Custom Marine Products was created in 2009 on the Great Lakes of Michigan by Thomas "Tom" Trimmer Sr., an avid cruising sailor and a retired business executive. Tom wanted a solar system for his sailboat, more importantly he wanted to improve his cruising experience by having an abundance of clean and quiet reliable electric power onboard. Tom faced purchasing either cheap unreliable solar or luxury solar not differentiated from its inexpensive counterparts. He teamed up directly with the most innovative high quality solar manufacturers to produce proprietary marine grade solar products bearing the Custom Marine Products name. After building his own system which soon became the envy of his local marina, Tom perfected his design and grew his expertise in marine solar. He has since become a notable speaker at events such as the Seattle Boat Show and the San Francisco Boat Show. Custom Marine Products has now become known for delivering custom individualized solar installations engineered for the highest quality and value. The Custom Marine Products suite of products includes complete marine solar kits, highest output marine grade photovoltaic solar panels, solar thermal systems, solar controllers, refrigeration systems, and various solar panel mounting solutions, as well as LiFePo batteries. Custom Marine Products freely distributes customer education for cruising sailors, mariners, business owners, and design engineers interested in utilizing marine grade solar technology in various extreme weather applications.
