1700 Series Water Heater

6 Gallon
With Engine Heat Exchanger

The “1700 Series” water heater provides hot water for galley and shower. Dense foam insulation provides better and longer heat retention than traditional fiberglass. The tank itself is protected by a 75 PSI T& P ( temperature and pressure) relief valve. The cylindrical design of the tank enables it to withstand more pressure than a cube shaped tank.

Heat exchanger models can be connected to the engine cooling system. This provides the added convenience of hot water when underway or generator power is not available. The innovative heat exchanger is over seven feet in length and is evenly coiled throughout the interior of the tank, providing hot water rapidly and efficiently.

Raritan’s water heaters use an ignition protected thermostat. Although it is factory set to 120°F, it is adjustable from 110° to 160°F and has a safety shut down limit of 190°F. All models and sizes have the plumbing connections on the same side to simplify installation. Hot and cold water connections are 3/4″ male NPT (National Pipe Thread). Heat exchanger connections are 3/4″ female NPT.

Raritan 6-Gallon Water Heater w/Heat Exchanger 120v Owners Manual

Raritan Engineering Company Inc. started with a simple product, a manual marine toilet designed for the Navy. This first of its kind manual marine toilet was built fully of bronze and allowed the user to draw in sea water while also discharging the contents by simply pumping the handle.

That first toilet was named the PH. In addition to its robust material it featured leather seals for reliability and durability. Today a very similar toilet still exists in Raritans lineup of marine toilets. The PHII has undergone many changes over the years but the original design to bring water in while also discharging had remained the same. Raritan differs from most of its competition in many ways.

In addition to being a pioneer in the marine manual toilet business Raritan then introduced an electric macerating toilet – the Crown Head. Some of which still exist in the field today! First introduced in the late 1960’s we still will occasionally get one dated from the late 1960’s or early 1970’s back on our exchange program.

We wonder how many companies today can claim they have had a toilet in operation for more than 45 years? While the Crown Head still remains popular among many the most impressive introduction by far was the Marine Elegance toilet which brings the ability to install a macerating toilet in a very tight area. While Vacuum toilets were all the rage in the early 1990’s the popularity is decreasing as vacuum leaks cause headaches for owners.

The development of the Marine Elegance required that it fit in a small area, have a powerful quiet flush and any required maintenance be easy. In addition we developed a unique mounting system that allows for extremely clean lines, a favorite for those that like a clean bathroom!

Of course with toilet waste comes environmental responsibility and that is where the first electrochemical chlorinator was born. Raritan introduced a way to treat the toilet waste with a bottle of bleach long before any rules or regulations about boat toilets even existed. Granted in today’s world it would not be proper but it was a step to try and protect the waters we boat in rather than having people discharge raw waste.

By the time the Clean Water Act came to be Raritan had partnered with Diamond Shamrock and introduced a Type I Marine Sanitation Device that still substantially outperforms the Type I standard! The Electroscan is by far the most popular Type I device on the market today and remains a top choice for those that choose to be environmentally friendly. While it is legal to discharge overboard outside the 3 mile limit we find many choose to do so inside without treatment. Installing a Type I device ensures that you are not discharging raw sewage inside the 3 mile limit.

Building reliable products are key to the core values at Raritan but more important than reliable products are knowing that no matter how well they are built things happen. Raritan is proud to provide telephone support throughout the week to allow users to have questions answered, or emergency parts shipped on the same day. We strive to get every customer back out on the water or up and running as quickly as possible. An investment in a Raritan product is always backed by unmatched after sale support.

Nomadic Supply Company Freight Versus the Big Box Stores

Nomadic Supply Company wants you to receive your valuable products in absolutely pristine condition so we ship our large refrigerators via truck freight, and we handle and package them in a way that no other retailer does.

When we prepare refrigerators for shipment we spend a full hour to inspect, re-pack, prepare, and schedule your truck freight shipment for the following day. This process ensures that your order arrives to you completely undamaged and in brand new condition. Our competitors do not do any of this for you, and they are are infamous for having their refrigerator shipments arrive damaged.

Our detailed inspection and repacking process will cause a minor delay in shipping your order to you, but unlike all of the other online stores, our shipments actually arrive to you in one piece, without damage, every single time.

  • → We inspect, repack, & double or triple box refrigerators in our custom made, dual wall, fully overlapped, 450lb. test-rated boxes.
  • → Nomadic Supply Company adds 2” Styrofoam and reinforcements to the packaging and all of the large refrigerators are fully palletized.
  • → We take photos of your shipment before, during and after your order is completed. Our customers LOVE this!

We do not recommend residential deliveries via truck freight:

Residential deliveries are always more expensive than shipping to the closest freight terminal. Shipping to the closest truck freight terminal in your area has numerous advantages over shipping to your residence:

  • → It saves you a ton of money in truck freight fees, usually around 50%.
  • → You can schedule to pick the shipment up at your convenience rather than spending a full day at home waiting for it.
  • → You can thoroughly inspect your shipment for potential damage caused by the freight carrier before accepting & signing for it.

You must read and understand the entire LTL Freight process if you want to order a refrigerator from Nomadic Supply Company.
