Additional features within this Solar Ready charger, such as a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) solar regulator and built-in Green Power Priority (primary solar selection), means you can charge your batteries using solar panels when driving or portable panels when stationary. With simultaneous DC and Solar inputs, this makes it the most advanced dual battery charger on the market today.
What does Solar Ready mean?
Solar ready is the ability to convert solar energy into storable, useable power. More specifically, products that are solar-ready are equipped with internal solar regulation, allowing them to be utilized in conjunction with unregulated solar power in order to supply a regulated charge for the purposes of charging an auxiliary battery. This process enables the secondary battery in a dual battery setup to receive charge to be utilized for powering onboard devices and 12v accessories without the need to connect to mains power or run the vehicle. Solar ready is available as standard in REDARC’s dual input DC to DC in-vehicle battery charger range. This includes the 25AMP BCDC1225D and 40AMP REDARC BCDC1240D dual battery chargers, compatible with both 12-volt and 24-volt vehicle systems.
What Is Green Power Priority?
Green Power Priority is used to describe the priority given to a solar input when charging an auxiliary battery in your vehicle. For example, if a solar power input is available the maximum available solar power will be used before topping up the output charge current from another power source. Priority is given to the solar input then to AC Mains power (where applicable), then to DC Vehicle Power, the advantage of this is that it places less load on the alternator.
