The ARB RD81 Ford 8.8 Inch/31 Spline Air Locker Differential is a pneumatic locking differential that uses air to facilitate the locking of both axles. This action converts your differential from a conventional open to a full spool type axle supplying 100% power to both wheels to keep you going through the worst terrain. An ARB CKMTA12 Onboard Air Compressor is required to activate Air Lockers.

Installation:
ARB lockers require no special tools or skills to install, apart from those necessary for fitting a standard differential. An ARB air compressor is the only additional thing you will need as each ARB locker comes complete with switches, solenoids, fittings, nylon air line, and even shims and bearings (if applicable).

Design:
Each locker is machined from a solid piece of nodular iron and encases 4 pinion gears (twice as many as most OEM differentials) with unique geometry that make them up to 30% stronger than OEM gears. The side gears that transfer force to the axle shafts are made from the highest grade nickel alloy steel and are finished with an aerospace grade surface treatment. ARB’s proprietary timed locking system prevents gear grinding during engagement and extends the life of the unit.
