Vanmade Gear's founder Simon is a friend of the owner of Nomadic Supply Company, Stavros. Vanmade Gear makes handmade, custom-designed, premium-quality insulated window shades for camper vans. In 2016, Vanmade Gear's founder, Simon, decided it was time to take life and work on the road. As he embarked on his adventure, Simon found there weren’t products on the market that addressed temperature control and privacy in a van, which he believed were critical to making van life more comfortable and effortless. The more windows, the worse the problems were. Simon began to create his own window shades, experimenting with materials and techniques until they were just right. Simon’s vision to elevate vanlife led to the creation of Vanmade Gear. During a time when few window shade-makers existed, Vanmade Gear led the way in making premium shades that prioritized comfort, safety, and privacy for everyone. Now thirteen employees strong, and a growing workshop in Portland, Oregon, Vanmade Gear continues to lead the way in engineering and innovation so you can keep on elevating the adventure.
